Hello Fourth Grade Students!
Welcome to Ms. Kane's fourth grade class!
I am so fortunate to have you in our classroom this year. Our classroom will be all about community and learning from each other. We will all succeed in learning fourth grade content material. Practice smiling and using your manners; this will be expected daily!
I am Ms. Kane. Many of you know me as last year's ESOL teacher for third grade. I will now be teaching one of the literacy blocks in fourth grade. My team teacher will be Mr. Merrilles (also one of last year's third grade teachers). I am as old as a dinosaur but still in college. I am working on my Educational Specialist through Piedmont College, so I will be studying nightly right along side of you.
I have two grown sons, Aaron and Adam. My dog, Emma, and my three cats (Thelma, Lily, and Hinsley....yes, named after Mr. Hinsley!) are always zipping around the house. My oldest son and my parents live in Iowa. Adam lives in Atlanta.
Be sure to watch a bit of the news every night! Something is always happening.
I love to read! My favorite book right now is The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. I am very adamant about each of you reading EVERY NIGHT! This is essential if you want your vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension to improve. Do your parents read? Every evening tell your parents about what you have learned in school.
Remember to replenish your supplies. Do you have paper, pencils, a pencil sharpener, and an eraser?
